History belongs to everyone…

This project is in its teenage years. Not a child, but not quite independent. A great deal of the writing has received some workshops and read-throughs among friends, but mostly lives as a proverbial “pipe dream” at the moment. If you have any interest in collaborating on the project, please feel free to reach out. There are currently plans for a workshop experiment in 2025, and we’d love to have you.

Thank you to all of the actors who have lent their voice to this endeavor so far!

About the project:

This project has gone through a great number of iterations. It’s first title, for instance, was “Chekhov in Space”. Since then it has gone through so many revisions and reimagining sessions that it is barely recognizable… which is kind of fitting. Here’s the pitch…

You walk into a museum. There is an object in front of you, perhaps an artifact — or maybe a painting. Of course you expect there to be an accompanying blurb which describes its provenance, its significance, its maker… but how do you know that’s true?
In the late 21st century, humanity made a risky, but necessary effort to establish a colony on the planet Mars. Space is dangerous. Mars is very far away. The mission ended in tragedy. But ever since, there have been strange radio messages sporadically landing on Earth… for those who still have a radio in their home.
The Coeus Memorial is an immersive theater piece which explores the line between what we are told, what we know, and what really happened. It is a multi-media adventure which makes use of live actors, pre-recorded performances, and object performance.
